2021.6.1

Today's class was mainly teamwork. As I attended the class that half of the people couldn't take, I taught a few of them about learning from the previous week. Thanks to the blog post that allows me to reflect on the class, I could easily recall my memories and share them with others. Everyone was shocked to know that Steven Donziger was sued by Chevron, and lost the freedom. They understood what I said, but it was quite difficult for me to follow the most understandable order. Teaching is hard.

We also learned about the Union Carbide incident that took place in India. It was shocking to know that numerous people had died and got injured because of it. I had a feeling that this is similar to the Minamata disease case in Kumamoto. Tisso is a company that supported the high economic growth of Japan in the Showa era after the war finished. Their factory’s harmful drainage went into the ocean and fish that lives there was eaten by local people. However, the government didn’t take any countermeasures because that company makes a huge profit. How the country had sontaku the company was similar to what happened in Bhopal. Moreover, they both had influence children and cause fetal diseases.
