Today's class theme was International Relations. Reading classmates' blog posts, I noticed that the final conclusion largely differs from group to group. People's opinions were completely different in this small class of 20-30 people. This explains the existence of numerous political theories such as Capitalism, liberalism, Marxism, and Gandhism. It seems almost impossible to reach a consensus with countries that adopt different systems. Given the entanglement of each country's speculation, it becomes even more difficult to determine which country is likely to betray, and which country to trust. However, this may be the essence of international relations.

The first activity was to decide whether to cooperate or not with the team activity in Mr.Paterson's class. The group members were Hirofumi Miki, Hiroki, Tanaka, and Kokoro Sunada. We did a little conversation at first to know each other well. Then, Mr.Paterson revealed the system of the game.
【Everyone cooperates ➡︎1 point up】
Everyone didn't cooperate➡︎1 point down】
【3 cooperate and 1 didn't➡︎3 people get 2 points down, 1 person gets 5 points up】
【2 cooperate and 2 didn't➡︎No change】
This was a really hard rule but I choose to cooperate. The first reason is that I don't really need 5 points up and 1 point up is enough. Considering that acts of betrayal would negatively influence the human relationship in this small community, it is better to choose to cooperate. Moreover, two members were communicating through body language and facial expression which means that they are going to choose either to cooperate or not to cooperate together. I anticipated that the other member would choose to cooperate so I balanced the team's opinion by cooperating. As a result, one person was betrayed and the other 3 got 2 points down. One person explained that the maximum loss would be 2 points when you choose to cooperate but it can be defined to 1 point when choosing not to cooperate.

The second activity was similar but in a different situation. This time, the team is a company and members are working there as a business person.
【Everyone cooperates ➡︎Everyone's salaries slight goes up】
Everyone didn't cooperate➡︎Everyone's salaries slight goes down
【Everyone else cooperates and 1 didn't➡︎1 person becomes the boss and everyone else's salaries go gown】
【2 cooperate and 2 didn't➡︎No change】
It was a hard choice to make but I decided to betray at last. If you didn't cooperate, there are 3 possibilities which are becoming a boss, no change happening, and salary going down. I felt like the last one has the smallest chance to happen because it is almost impossible for everyone to make the same choice in a bigger community such as a company. This is the same reason why I thought there is only a little chance that my salary goes up when you cooperate. The result was no change, as 2 members had betrayed.
To conclude, I found out how hard it is to judge who you can trust.
