In, 1983 50 companies owned media but in 2004, only 6 companies had ownership. What kind of influence does ownership give to media? One major example is when NBC didn't make any critical report about the Fukushima nuclear bomb accident because it was sponsored by General Electrics related to the incident. Well, nuclear power generation is something that is actually connected deeply with our daily lives and future, people have the right to know the risk, and then start having their opinion. It is very problematic that these opportunities are deprived because of ownership. In Japan, Yomiuri・AsahiNikkeiMainichiSankei are the main owners. We get the information every day without understanding that they are strongly biased. Also, we never get to know the information that was stopped by the editors.
Posilac (rBGH) is a cow growth hormone produced by Monsanto, it was advertised in the US on a large scale. When this is given to cows, there is a high possibility of pus invading into milk. Cows are in such an unhealthy conditions. This was very interesting to learn as I am researching about livestock and developing an application related to veganism. Moreover, I was born in United States and live their for half a year. My mother told me that she never let me drink milk because her friend who also has a child said it is considered unhealthy. I wonder how much Americans know.
Whistleblower protection incident was shocking to know. If the thing that you’re telling court is illegal, the law is adjusted. Actually, court didn’t adjust the law, which means that telling lies in the media is not a crime. I believe this is crazy because information gives out huge influences to society and economy, sometimes even depriving someone’s life. How can we believe media at this point? Presstitute is a very ironic word, but it is true that some media’s are selling their ethics for money.
