🔗The Prettiest Chapter One:Eve
In this chapter, the protagonist was Eve, a girl who placed “number one prettiest” in 8th graders of Ford middle school. Indeed, she didn’t hate the way she looked but had complex in her precocious body. Target of the novel is teenagers whose unconfident of their appearance, making the story relatable for them. In addition, she had shy personality and hated to draw people’s attention, preferring to read beautiful literature and write poem instead. The gap between image of “pretty girls” and Eve can hook the audience.
🔗The Prettiest Chapter Two:Sophie
Same as last chapter, Chapter Two is written in third persons view but focusing on another girl, Sophie. Her morning starts up with makeups and hair set which eats up largest chunk of her time. All the boys liked her glossy blond and signature magenta pink. She was a “Queen bee”. She always got highest grade in both schoolwork and sports among all students in Ford Middle school by making large while everyone is sleeping. In one word, she always was and wanted to be “Number One”. Her mother always told her to not let anyone see her “less than” somebody.
Sophie felt strong anger toward Eve that deprived her place and someone who made the list. In the following chapter, Sophie tries to find out who is the criminal.
🔗The Prettiest Chapter Three:Eve
In lunchtime, Eve was sitting with Nessa in cafeteria. Everyone was gossiping about who LordTelsa was and girls on the list. Boys were teasing Sophia Kane for being number two which made Eve even more uncomfortable and wanting to disappear.
Principal Yu had Assembly that day. She took this sexual harassment seriously, and responded by contacting to parents or declaring the penalty to LordTelsa. Eve’s family discussed about the list during dinner. Her mother concerning, father being proud of, sister envying, and brother furious about his sister being objectified. Everyone had different opinion. Eve and Nessa texted that night and shared their honest feelings.
