The Kite Runner Chapter 18

Chapter 18 focuses on Amir's emotional conflict. Amir felt disoriented, has to reevaluate his surroundings, and reorient himself but find it impossible to reconcile with Baba he never knew. He wondered why he had been so blind about Baba and Hassan's relationship because there were many elements that hint this. Baba had lied to both Hassan and Amir for so long although he looked straight into Amir's eye and said that lie is stealing of someone's right to the truth, that theft is the only sin that exists. Fifteen years after the death, it turned out he was theft. Amir had so many questions. Why could Ali live with Baba knowing he had been dishonored in the single worst way Afghan man can be dishonored?
Baba and Amir were too alike. They both betrayed the people who would have given lives for them. Baba to Ali and Amir to Hassan. Amir despaired when he noticed that if he hadn't driven Hassan and Ali out of the house, they might have lived new lives in the U.S where there's no Hazara discrimination.
In Chapter 17, Amir rejected Rahim. However, there was only a single way for him, a way to be good again. Amir needed to find Sohrab to end the cycle, who is a part of Hassan who loved Amir in a way no one ever had or ever would. When Amir told his determination, Rahim replied, ''I'll pray for you.''
