The Kite Runner Chapter 21

There was a shocking episode at the beginning of Chapter 21.  People were selling their body parts in the black market to feed children for only A COUPLE OF WEEKS.

Wazir Akbar district was where Amir lived in childhood days. Now, the Taliban and people behind the Taliban like Arabs, Chechens, Pakistanis were inhibiting. There, Amir finally found Baba's house which became a picture of fallen splendor. He desperately wanted to go in but was impossible. Amir remembered his childhood, dreaming of and acting like a hero with Hassan. Twenty-five years ago, Ali and Hassan left the house in the rain.

Looking at Amir recollecting his memories, Farid advised, ''Just forget it all. Makes it easier to go on. Nothing that you remember has survived. Best to forget.''

Amir replied, ''I don't want to forget anymore.'' Both opinions were understandable and based on each sense of value. It was interesting to learn how their ways of thinking are deeply connected with experiences. Amir noticed one thing that hasn't changed in Kabul after all. The Kabob was succulent and amazingly delicious.

Amir and Farid's venue was Pashtunistan Square. Numerous Taliban were looking around and holes or craters in the ground but the soccer game heated up as always.

Suddenly, red trucks entered the field. The Taliban forced some people that committed sin to one of the chest-deep holes. They were punished by stoning and died in blood. Amir and Farid couldn't bear looking at it.

Farid and the Taliban exchanged few words about personal businesses Amir had for Talib in the sunglass, who he called John Lennon. The meeting was set at Three o'clock.
