The Kite Runner Chapter 15
Amir took a flight to Peshawar. On the way to Rahim Khan’s house, Amir remembered old memories in the city with Baba and Hassan. In contrast to Afghanistan, Peshawar’s atmosphere was cheerful and vibrant. Many Afghans immigrated and opened business but most of them were still very poor. This scene depicted reality really well which was possible because the author lived there. Amir also recollected memory in 1981. Baba and Rahim who was a friend of life hugged each other in the last night before Baba and Amir left Kabul.
After a little drive, Amir finally met Rahim Khan. He was very old and weak that Amir even depicted him as ''a thing made of skin and bones pretending to be Rahim Khan''. Although his physical ability and appearance changed a lot, Rahim was still an instinctive and clever man. We can see this when Amir said he doesn't have a child (because Soraya was infertile), Rahim asked no more.
Rahim told Amir that the current situation of Afghanistan much worse than the media's report. Taliban don't let you be a human. For example, Rahim was watching a soccer game in Ghazi stadium. Suddenly, the man sitting next to Rahim cheered at the enemy.
