The Kite Runner Chapter 3

Chapter three mainly focuses on the difficult Father-son relationship between Baba and Amir.
Baba was called as ''Mr.Hurricane.'' He was a powerful man impossible to ignore and always succeed in triumphant ways. Baba built orphanages as he got his father killed when he was six. This tragedy deeply connects with how he sees the world. Baba saw the world in Black and White like many Afghanistan elite. However, he didn't believe in God, and even though Mullah Fatiulluh Khan is an idiot, which was quite rare in a religious country. The main reason was the difference in the recognition of sin. Sin is a significant keyword in The Kite Runner. Baba said, ''There is only one sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft.'' In fact, I quite agree with his idea, murder is stealing of life, lie is stealing someone's right to the truth. Baba didn't always get stuck in the old way of thinking, especially in religions.
Amir desperately wanted Baba all to himself. He hated all the children Baba built orphanages for and even wished they'd all died along with their parents. He strongly desired love from Baba but the weird thing is, he was fearing or maybe hating his father at the same time.
Amir hadn't turned out like Baba. In fact, completely different. Amir's love for novels and epics disappointed Baba as reading is not what real man does for him. In addition, Amir was worst at his soccer team while Baba was an ace. Baba told Rahim Khan, "If I hadn't see doctor pull him out of my wife in my own eyes, I'd never believe he's my son.''
Sometimes, Amir faked his interests in Baba's favorite topics but Baba sensed a lack of genuine interests at last. His hard try just made their distance further and Baba's aloofness worse. In my opinion, we can't simply say its one's fault. The parent-child relationship looks simple but complicated. In fact, Amir thought Baba hated him a little because after all, he had killed Baba's beloved wife, his beautiful princess.
