The Kite Runner Chapter 9

Amir didn't want any of the presents he got at last night's party because it was all blood money, except Rahim Khan's leather-bound note book. Opening numerous presents, Amir wondered Baba would never throw him a party if he hadn't won the tournament.
Later that afternoon, Amir rolled up Schwinn to the backyard where Ali and Hassan were cleaning up the mess from the party. They gave Amir a nice lovely present, ''Shahnahmah (world's longest epic story written by a single writer)'' with beautiful illustrations. Ali was concerned because the book was not inexpensive, very modest and it might not be worthy of Amir. He wanted to tell Ali that it was not the book, but Amir who was unworthy.
Ali and Hassan's goodwill made Amir even more guilty about what he planned to do. In Baba's house, two boys were both suffering. Amir understood that one of them had to go to lessen pain.
The next morning, Amir tiptoed to Ali and Hassan's living quarters holding the envelopes of cash and wristwatch Baba gave him. He lifted understand why Baba was unable to forgive Amir for not being the son he'd always wanted.
Although Baba forgave Hassan and forbid Ali and Hassan to leave, they decided to go Hazarajat. Ali said life at Baba's house is impossible anymore and glared at Amir in a cold unforgiving eye. In fact, Ali knew the truth as Hassan told him, but be never spoke it to Baba. Baba cried and pleaded, ''Please, don't leave'' in a painful and fearful way. However, in the end, the person whose first spoken word had been Amir left. We don't know what would happen in human relationships because soulmates ended up this way. He divided Baba and Ali who spent time together for almost 40 years too. I believe this is even more sinful than what he did in chapters seven and eight... Everyone had pain in their heart but the separation was inevitable.
