Today, we each worked hard on making slides after Mr. Paterson checked our understanding about CRAP and showed some example slides. There were many learnings that I can probably make use of in my project.
Firstly, the visual of slides need to be simple and clear so that audience can understand in few seconds. Mr. Paterson showed us Senpai's slides with one tone background and nice pictures that helped the audience to grasp the flow. I also reflected significant points of presentation called CRAP on the YouTube channel once again to make sure I cover them. CRAP stands for contrast, reputation, alignment, and proximity. This time, I want to focus more on the latter half of four by giving elements a visual connection and grouping items that relate to each other.
Secondly, I want to review the slides which I finished during the weekend. In the title slide, I edited the picture darker to make white letters stand out. Picture of a boy running kites expresses the nostalgic atmosphere of ''The Kite Runner'' really well. Three parts on the outline include the novel's connection with Khaled Hosseini, summary, and critic. I chose a simple blue background that was nicely colored and easy to see. I'm planning to present Khaled’s background in the first section, focusing on how he enjoyed kite running as an Afghan child and a difficult experience as a war refugee in the US. I also summarized the novel by connecting it with the main themes like betrayal and redemption, social class and ethnic tensions, and refugees. For these six slides, the backgrounds are pictures itself and I wrote a few words that help the audience's understanding. In the third section, I need to share some criticism before my positive critics. However, ''The Kite Runner'' is criticized and praised in the same points. For example, many teachers and parents found this novel offensive by how it mentioned sensitive topics like war and gender discrimination in Afghanistan. On the other hand, its challenging content and rareness are highly evaluated. Finally, I would give photo credits, mention about educational fair use, link the master document, and wrap it up by recommendation.
