Today, Mr. Paterson told us websites and YouTube channels that gain our understanding of the book and help our projects in many ways especially in book review and presentation.
Firstly, CliffsNotes and SparkNotes have different aims and characteristics that make us see the book from many perspectives. Both websites had book reviews of ''The Kite Runner'', the novel I chose. Well analyzed writings helped me so much to understand the themes of the novel. CliffsNotes is for teachers from teachers while SparkNotes is for students from students. Comparing these two websites, I found out that most elements are common and similar. However, Sparknotes includes more detailed essences while Cliifnotes focus mainly on significant points that must be treated in class. I believe two websites would probably play bigger roles when we understand the good and bad points of websites and make use of the difference well.
Secondly, Fahrenheit 451 and The Hobbit's book review from YouTube videos of ThugNotes. He covered all the significant parts of the story and summarized it into a few minutes which is difficult when it comes to long novels. In addition, he understood the symbolism perfectly by connecting novels with the author's background and society situation. The whole presentations were persistent and caught audiences' attention by informal way of talking. I want to decide my own style until term two. Finishing with positive or negative critics and recommendations is an important point too.
We have a long time for the presentation. I would try my best and apply my learning.
